Did you know you save money on insurance because of our ability to get firefighters water?

It’s true!

Green Bay Water Utility stands firmly in its position to better the community. One of the core values is to protect the health and safety of its employees and community through high operational and regulatory standards.

Recently, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department announced its newest ISO Class rating. ISO stands for Insurance Services Organization. The rating serves as a Public Protection Classification (PPC) number on a scale from 1 to 10, with Class 1 being the very best in fire protection. After an extensive five-year audit, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, Green Bay Water Utility, Allouez Water Works, and the Brown County Communication Center have successfully maintained a Class 1 ISO rating. Green Bay Water Utility accounts for 40% of this rating. There are various evaluation categories, including fire department capabilities, emergency communications, water availability, and needed fire flows—the quantity of water required to put out a fire at different places. With this excellent ISO rating, the quality of fire protection is much more outstanding, and the cost of insurance is lower.

Water availability plays a crucial role in fire protection success rates. The Green Bay Water Utility ensures its 3,947 fire hydrants operate at exceptional levels by improving flow capacity and pressure.
